Are You Ready for the Newly Proposed HIPAA Security Rule

to Safeguard Your Electronic Protected Health Information?

Free Webinar for Healthcare Professionals Monday, February 24, 2025

Noon – 1pm

Registration is required to attend.

The protected health information of your patients may not be as protected as you think. Safeguarding patient information is critical. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is strengthening security standards for electronic protected health information stored in healthcare systems with a new security rule to reduce your vulnerability to cyberattacks and security breaches.

This free webinar will give healthcare providers, healthcare IT professionals and healthcare security professionals an overview of the new security rule and how the proposed changes could impact your IT policies and practices.

You’ll learn about new requirements to protect the confidentiality of patients:

  • Removal of “addressable” specifications
  • Mandatory encryption
  • Multi-factor authentication (MFA)
  • Technology Asset Inventory and Network Map
  • Enhanced Risk Analysis
  • Updated Business Associate Agreements
  • Contingency Planning

The proposed protocols are designed to strengthen the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act). Public comments on the new security rule are welcomed through March 7, 2025.
